Refill Deodorant: Fresh (+ Compostable) as a Rose

Deodorant purchased at the refill store

This swap was moderately difficult to make. I often got my favourite deodorant on sale, and I liked the smell/feel/protection it offered. It came in a plastic container though, and so it just doesn’t work with my long-term zero waste goals!

I was nervous that refill deodorant wouldn’t provide enough fresh-ness coverage. I knew I had to give it a try, though. After running out of deodorant one day I tried making it DIY from home. It went okay. I was nervous about the baking soda component, wondering if it would irritate my skin etc., and decided to look into options at the refill store. I found a refill deodorant at Great Lakes Refill that was baking soda free. I purchased a small amount to try it out, and found a perfect little refill jar at the store (shown in the blog photo). I’m on my second refill now!!

How To Refill Deod:

  1. Find small jar to keep the deodorant

  2. Buy refill deodorant

  3. Take small amount on your finger and apply to your underarms using your hands

  4. Enjoy the earthy fresh smell!
